A Surprise Proposal in Georgetown :: Washington DC Engagement Photographer

Last fall Renz contacted me about stealthy photographing him as he proposed to his girlfriend Neda.  He wanted to propose on a boat and he wanted it to be a surprise. Since they were traveling to DC from out of town, I helped Renz find a boat – which was not as easy in October as it would be in the summer of course.  But it all went on without a hitch and I boarded Potomac Riverboat Company‘s Miss Mallory in Alexandria, Virginia for a Monument Tour and did my best to act like a tourist.  At the predetermined time, I made my way to the lower deck and waited for Renz to propose to Neda.  In such tight quarters I was sure Neda would think something was up but she didn’t notice me at all.

After Renz proposed (and Neda said yes!), we disembarked in Georgetown for a portrait session.  Luckily Neda’s sister was in on the surprise and had convinced her to buy a new dress for what she hoped would be a romantic cruise.  After spending sometime on the Canal, Neda was in for a second surprise as her parents and sister met them to congratulate the newly betrothed.  The whole clan headed to Farmers Fishers Bakers for a champagne toast.

It was such a fun afternoon & I had hope to photograph more surprise proposals in the future!Georgetown Surprise Proposal - Washington DC EngagementGeorgetown Surprise Proposal - Washington DC EngagementGeorgetown Surprise Proposal - Washington DC EngagementGeorgetown Surprise Proposal - Washington DC EngagementGeorgetown Surprise Proposal - Washington DC Engagementgeorgetown-surprise-proposal0064Georgetown Surprise Proposal - Washington DC EngagementGeorgetown Surprise Proposal - Washington DC EngagementGeorgetown Surprise Proposal - Washington DC Engagement
