Fun Family Portraits :: North Bethesda Portrait Photographer

I’m a little behind in blogging some of my pre-holiday portrait sessions!

This portrait session in North Bethesda was so much fun.  We met one afternoon shortly after Thanksgiving.  Since the family lives in a gorgeous apartment building, we used much of the common area as our location.

One of my favorite things to do in every family portrait session is to make sure to get a few pictures of mom & dad.  I loved how this one turned out with the reflection in the piano.

Documentary Family Portraits in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

{have camera; will travel}

Philadelphia Documentary Family Portrait Photogapher

Earlier this month, I headed up to visit some old clients in Philadelphia for a documentary family portrait session.  The last time we met for a portrait session was in 2007 in Baltimore and their family has grown up and by one with the newest member, sweet baby Charlie.  It was fun to see them at their beautiful home and be able to capture their home life.

I think I have mentioned before that the documentary portraits at home are my favorite type of session.  I find that families, especially children, are most comfortable in familiar environments. Philadelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait PhotogapherPhiladelphia Documentary Family Portrait Photogapher

With documentary family sessions, I try to give families both beautiful images that can stand on their own as well as a body of images that tell a story.  I think the story is best told through the slideshow which you can view here.

US National Arboretum in Autumn :: Washington DC Documentary Photographer

Spent a lovely afternoon at the US National Arboretum a few weeks ago.  Living in Capitol Hill, the National Arboretum is practically in my backyard.  It’s a great place to hike or picnic or just wander around enjoying nature. The fall color just starting to fade in the afternoon sun.

Potomac Maryland Family Portraits :: Two Adorable Sisters

This was one of my more fun shoots.  From the second I walked through the door, the girls were jumping and playing with me.  They even asked why I had to take so many pictures since obviously I had just come over to play with them!  It was a blast.  I was even a patient to their doctor skills (my diagnoses was a fever due to bees in my mouth! I hope there is a cure!).

I love relaxed at home family portrait sessions.  And this one was a blast!

Northern Virginia Family Photographer :: Morning at Wolf Trap

This was such a fun portrait session.  I absolutely love when clients introduce me to a location that I was previously unaware.

I’ll admit I was a little skeptical when Beth and Michael suggested Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts as our location, but since Beth works at Wolf Trap, I trusted she knew some great spots.

One of summer’s highlights is grabbing friends, a picnic, and some blankets and heading out to Wolf Trap to enjoy a concert.  What I didn’t know is that there is a gorgeous park lurking behind the pavilion with trails and streams and bridges.

It was perfect.  The morning sun peeked through the trees making the whole place seem magical even if most of the autumn color had faded.  It was a simply lovely morning with simply lovely people.  A photographer’s dream.  I am adding it to my list of recommended spots for my Northern Virginia portrait sessions.  And also as a spot to take my dog for walk a too.
